Accra Police Gets 15 Motorbikes

The Accra Regional Police Command has taken delivery of 15 motorbikes from the Police Administration to enhance its combat operational activities.

As part of efforts to clamp down on criminal activities, it would be recalled that, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mr. David Asante-Apeatu, in April this year, launched the armed motorbike patrols who were trained in high risk combat duties. It is in this direction that the Accra Regional Police Command has taken delivery of the motorbikes.

The Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP/Mr. George Alex Mensah, who briefed the men emphasized on the need to build a robust capability to counter the menace of using motorbikes for robberies in the region.

He further asked the men to intensify their patrols to vulnerable areas particularly unmotorable and newly developing settlements with limited police facilities.

The regional commander, challenged the men to work expeditiously to win public trust especially in the wake of recent Police-public confrontations, as the public can only volunteer information to the police when they are respected.

The Regional Operations Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr. Kwesi Ofori, whose direct supervision the patrol teams will be working, charged the men to discharge their duties effectively to reduce violent crimes to its barest minimum.

He assured the Regional Commander that the motorbikes will be used effectively for the purpose they were received.
