The Director-General, Research and Planning shall be responsible to the IGP for the following:

  1. Conduct research into all units of the Service and make recommendations;
  2. Liaise with schedule officers to draw up plans for effective and efficient performance;
  3. Review a realistic organizational structure of the Service;
  4. Develop a format for production of a comprehensive annual report for the Service;
  5. Develop and review effective human resource data base system for the Service;
  6. Carry out periodic manpower auditing for research purposes;
  7. Carry out periodic Police equipment/logistic auditing;
  8. Research into various community policing projects for comparison and adoption;
  9. Liaise with Police consultants and other stakeholders on contemporary policing on research issues (NGOs, and other forms of aid);
  10. Perform any other duties as assigned by the IGP.
