Ashanti Region

Ashanti region borders the Central region, Eastern region, Brong-Ahafo region and the Western regions of Ghana. The Ashanti Regional Police command is one of the eleven (11) police regions in Ghana based in the regional capital Kumasi.

The Regional Command was established in February 1966 with ACP/Mr. M. Gordon as its first Regional commander.

DCOP/Mr. Kwasi Mensah-Duku, is the current Regional Commander with Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr.Frederick Adu-Anim as the second in command. The regional headquarters is situated at Adum – Central.

The regional headquarters consists of the units:

  • Regional Orderly Room
  • Regional Public Affairs Unit
  •  R/CID
  • C/MTTU
  • Court Unit
  • DOVVSU Unit
  • Reserve Force
  • SWAT Unit
  •  R/Visibility
  •  Police Training School
  • Highway Patrol Unit
  • Band
  • Communication and
  • Service  Workshop

The region is made up of Fourteen (14) divisions, Forty one (41) districts and one hundred and fifty eight (158) police stations and posts. The divisions include:

  1. Central division
  2. Bekwai division
  3. Offinso division
  4. Suame division
  5. Manhyia division
  6. Obuasi division
  7. Nkawie (atwima) division
  8. Mampong division
  9. Konongo division
  10. Ahafo ano (tepa) division
  11. Effiduase division
  12. Tafo-pankrono division
  13. 13. Asokwa division
  14. Ejisu division

The region has a total of Nine hundred and eighteen 918 males and 289 females. The regional command can be contacted on 0299 208337.
