CID Headquarters Receives Donation of 16 Cameras from the National Crime Agency attached to the British High Commission

CID HEADQUARTERS RECEIVES DONATION OF 16 CAMERAS FROM THE NATIONAL CRIME AGENCY ATTACHED TO THE BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION
On Tuesday July 24, 2018, at about 9:00am, the National Crime Agency attached to the British High Commission donated sixteen (16) cameras to the Drug Law Enforcement Units of the CID headquarters.
The cameras were presented to Police by Mr. Neil Abbott an officer of the National Crime Agency. The items were received by the DG/CID DCOP/Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah on behalf of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department.
The cameras ranging from CanonG5 Still (6), Sony HD AVCHD-Video (8), Binocular (1) and Nikon D70 with Extra Lens 18-70mm (1) were estimated at the cost of Five Thousand Euros (€5000) equivalent to Thirty Thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵30,000).
Mr. Neil Abbott stated that, the cameras presented to the Drug Law Enforcement Units are to assist their daily activities and operations adding that, the donation became necessary following the role the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) plays in its continuous fight against the drug menace in the country. He added that, the cameras are expected to be distributed to all the Drug Law Enforcement Units across the country to aid their work.
The DG/CID DCOP/Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, who received the items on behalf of the Ghana Police Service particularly the DLEU of the CID headquarters, thanked the British High Commission and National Crime Agency for their kind gesture.
She promised to ensure that, the respective units put the cameras to good use. She called on corporate organizations to emulate the kind gesture by National Crime Agency.
The donation followed an official launch of the New Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) in Koforidua under the auspices of the US Government and UNODC project to offer technical and logistical assistance to law enforcement authorities in controlling Drug Trafficking and other organized crimes in the Country.
The launch was attended by DG/Welfare COP/Mr. Prosper Lawrence Agblor representing the IGP, DG/CID DCOP/Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, UN Resident Coordinator Mrs. Christine Evans-Klock including the Eastern Regional Police Commander DCOP/Mr. Alphonse Adu Amankwah and some other Senior Officer.
