The National Patrol Department is responsible for the general supervision and coordination of Community Policing (CP) and Visibility Patrol of the Ghana Police Service. The Community Policing focuses on building ties and working closely with members of the communities to detect and prevent crime in society. The Visibility Patrol Unit on the other hand ensures police are visible in strategic areas of communities. Additionally, the department undertakes training programmes for personnel under it and also coordinates the recruitment of Community Police Assistants through the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to assist in policing duties in the country.
