UNFPA/DOVVSU CLOSES A 5-DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME ON SGBV/DV

The Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana police service with support from the Unit ed Nations Population Fund, UNFPO brought to close a 5-day capacity training programme for thirty-two (32) Domestic violence and Victims support Unit, DOVVSU coordinators nationwide at the Detective Training Academy, Tesano, Accra on Friday September 07, 2018.

The workshop was aimed at equipping participants with knowledge and skills to be effective handlers in  domestic violence cases so as to correct numerous complains of poor handling of clients by officers.

The Deputy Director – General/CID, ACP/Mr. Francis Aboagye- Nyarko urged the Participants to put the knowledge acquired to good use.

The national DOVVSU Coordinator C/SUPT Owusuwaa Kyeremeh said the nature of DOVVSU’s work is to maintain competency in accordance with international best practices to properly manage SGBV/DV cases and to fit into the police administration transformation Agenda.
